Bet on the NHL at Bodog Life
The Vancouver Canucks play host to the New York Rangers, at G.M. Place, for some hard hitting NHL action. The Rangers have not played in Vancouver since 2002, in which the Canucks won 3-1.
The Vancouver Canucks have six wins in their last ten games; two of those losses came in shootouts which the Canucks are no good at. They recently lost their last game, 1-2, to the Calgary Flames on the road. The Sedin twins are proving to be invaluable to the Canucks as they are the main producers of goals. The secret to their success is to stay out of the penalty box and try to draw their opponents into penalties. G Roberto Luongo has been great in net, he’s currently 18-12-3 with a 2.03 GAA and he’s recorded 5 shutouts so far. Thanks to Luongo the Canucks have the 3rd lowest GAA in the league along with the 12th best penalty kill. Their power play is ranked 15th in the league but as of late they’ve drastically improved. In their last couple of games they’ve lagged in the 3rd period and they’ll have to improve going up against a talented crew of Rangers. The Canucks are currently 11-6-0-2 at home and they sit on top of the Northwest Standings. They are (23-17 ATS, 13-18-9 O/U)
The New York Rangers have four wins in their last ten games after losing, 3-4 on the road, to the Calgary Flames. They have one road win in their last five games. With all the talent on the Rangers roster you would think they would be right up there with the best of them, but they aren’t. Their offense is ranked 25th in goals per game and their power play is playing averagely. On defense is where the Rangers get it done. They have a low GAA thanks to goalie Henrik Lundqvist who’s 18-14-3 with a 2.28 GAA and a 9.11 SVPCT. They have an excellent penalty kill that’s ranked 8th in the league. The top producer for the Rangers is Scott Gomez with 38pts. The Rangers are currently 7-8-2-2 on the road and they sit in 3rd place in the Atlantic Standings. They are (20-20 ATS, 18-19-3 O/U)
Bottom Line: The Canucks should be able to pull off the win if they can stay out of the penalty box and pick up their play in the 3rd period. The Rangers don’t have the greatest road record of late and they’re about to add another loss to their record.
Let’s go Canucks!

Orange Bowl Betting Preview
Kansas (11-1) vs. Virginia Tech (11-2)
Thursday January 3, 2008 8:00 PM EST
Hokies -3½ (-105)
Bet on the 2008 Orange Bowl at Bodog Life
Defense will be the deciding factor in tonight’s game as the Hokies will use defensive schemes that will confuse the Jayhawks. The Hokies have the second ranked scoring defense in the nation; Virginia Tech is led by a superb defense. They have scored more defensive and special teams touchdowns than any other team over the past two decades. The Hokies returned an interception for a touchdown against Boston College, and also blocked two kicks and an extra point. The Hokies are third in the nation with 43 sacks and tied for fifth with 21 interceptions, returning five for touchdowns. The Jayhawks have good defense as well but they play a simpler game and do not pressure as much as the Hokies which be key in tonight’s game.
Bottom Line: The Hokies are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Hokies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games on grass. The Hokies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite. The Hokies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Hokies are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 Thursday games
The better defense wins out
