The second week of NCAA Football gets under way again with the Louisville
Cardinals hosting the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. This
will be Louisville’s second straight home game and Mid Tennessee’s
second road game.
The Louisville Cardinals smashed Murray State 73-10 in their home
opener last week. Quarterback Brain Brohm threw for 375 yards and
4 TDs, while receivers Harry Douglas (5 REC, 151 YDS, 2 TD) and
Gary Barnidge (4 REC, 46 YDS, 2 TD) did most of the work in the
air. The Cards rushers contributed 5 TDs to a struggling Murray
State defense.
The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders lost their first game on
the road against the Florida Atlantic 14-27. The Raiders put up
all of their points in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Joe Craddock
(199 YDS, 1 TD) had an average game but the key to this loss was
two interceptions. Their rushing game was pretty much null and void
as well as their receiving game.
Bottom Line: This game will be all Louisville Cardinals.
The Cards are ranked 6th in passing but struggle in rushing yards
gained, which can’t really be justified because most of the
runs were within the 10 yard line. Their defense could use some
improvement but against the Raiders offense it shouldn’t be
anything to worry about.

Teams always play the Super Bowl champs tough. Everyone knows they
Champs get a tougher schedule and team always want to prove themselves
against the champs. Head to head The Saints have a 5-4 edge in their
all-time series with the Colts and everyone will be jacked up to
play against the champs for the opening game of the NFL season.
No team wants to be blown out and the Saints will keep this game
close because Drew can match pass for pass with Manning and he has
as many weapons as Manning does.
Bottom Line: New Orleans has cashed 19 of its
last 26 on the road against teams with a winning record and 14 of
19 as road dogs of six points or more. The Saints have also 'covered'
eight of their last nine road openers. Indianapolis has come up
short in nine of its last 13 as favorites in its first home game.
The Colts have come away with the cash in six of their last seven
when facing playoff teams. Prior Super Bowl champs are just 7-13-1
ATS when making their initial title defense.
The Colts will win this game straight up but take the Saints on
the spread
