The Pittsburgh Penguins will host the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight
at the Melon Arena. The Leafs have lost their last two home games,
while the Pens are riding a three game win streak. The Pittsburgh
Penguins have dramatically improved their play lately. They’ve
improved their defense, which was young and inexperienced, and their
penalty kill. They’ve never really lacked in offense but it
seems that the tables have turned slightly. They now have defense
but no offense. Sid the Kid is struggling to score but is still helping
out with assists. He’s got 2 goals and 8 assists in 8 games,
while Petr Sykora leads with 4 goals. Their best chance at scoring
comes on the power play were their currently ranked 6th. The Pens
have been using both goalies lately. Marc-Andre Fleury is 4-3 with
a 2.98 GAA and he’s allowed 19 goals. Back up Danny Sabourin
has played 3 games for a 1-0 record and a 3.00 GAA. Evgeni Malkin
has found the net and leads the Pens in shots on net with 28. Pittsburgh
is 3-2 when playing at home.
The Toronto Maple Leafs is struggling big time. Although their getting
good offense they lack in every other aspect of hockey. They’re
ranked 2nd in goals scored and 5th in shots on net. The funny thing
is, is that they’re not scoring on the power play, their power
play is ranked 24th. Mats Sundin is the top point leader of the Leafs
with 17 points, while Jason Blake leads with 40 shots on net and 11
points. The poorest part of the Leafs game is their goalies. Andrew
Raycroft has started 4 games for a 1-3 record with a 3.64 GAA, and
Vesa Toskala is 2-4 with a 3.94 GAA. The Leafs are ranked 29th in
goals against averaging 4.2 a game. The Leafs have not won on the
road yet, their 0-2.
Bottom Line: The Penguins will be able to score against a
hurting Leafs goaltending situation. While the Pens goalie situation
isn’t much better, they do have a better defense than the Leafs.
The Leafs road record says it all also. Let’s go Pittsburgh!

Hokies -3(-110)

this NCAA Football Game at Bodog Life
This game sets up perfectly for what i call my "System Conference
Game Of The Year". The system here being an unranked, or in this
case, a lower ranked team playing at home + or - PTS over the higher
ranked squad. It has been a consistent winning situation in CFB &
CBB over the many years i have implemented it. Tonight, we have an
OVERRATED #2 Bc club heading into Blacksburg, Va to play the Hokies.
The Eagles have beaten 2 decent teams this year w a home win over
Wake Forest, and a good road win @ Ga Tech. However, the only reason
the Eagles have risen so far up in the polls is due to the fact that
Usc & Oklahoma have 1 loss already. Sure, like the Hokies, they
have alot of talent and good coaching, but they are in the wrong place
at the wrong time tonight.
Bottom Line: Another good situational edge in
handicapping CFB is the "REVENGE" factor and it is in
play tonight for the Hokies who are seek ing payback for a 22-3
loss at Bc last year. Bc has lost their last 4 road games vs teams
with revenge. On the flip side, the Hokies are 12-1 seeking CONFERENCE
revenge! The Eagles are also 1-7 ATS coming off a bye week. Lastly,
Va Tech is 8-1-1 ATS in weeknight games. All the signs lead to a
Hokie win in Blacksburg tonight!
Final: Virginia Tech 33 BC 20
