The World Series gets underway tonight with the Boston Red Sox facing
the Colorado Rockies at Fenway Park. The Colorado Rockies bring
their 21-22 record into Boston with the hope of tacking on another
win. Tonight’s pitcher for the Rockies will be Jeff Francis
(LP) (19-7, 4.11). Francis is currently 2-0 in the playoffs with
a 2.13 ERA. In the total 12.2 innings he pitched he allowed 11 hits,
3 runs, 12 strikeouts and 2 homers. The Rockies pitching staff posted
a collective 2.10 ERA this postseason. He’ll have plenty of
offensive support from his team that has great hitters from the
bottom to the top of the order. The Rockies also posses one of the
stingiest defenses, that thrives on double plays.
The pitcher for the Boston Red Sox tonight will be Josh Beckett
(RP) (20-7, 3.27 ERA). Beckett is currently 3-0 in the playoffs
with a 1.17 ERA. In the total 23 innings pitched he’s allowed
13 hits, 3 runs, 26 strikeouts and 1 homer. The Red Sox bats got
lucky in game 7 of the ALCS with hits from K.Youkilis, David Ortiz,
J.D. Drew, J.Varitek and D.Pedroia. During the previous games, of
the playoffs, these batters might have well been sitting in the
stands watching. The Sox only have three decent closers in the bullpen
which may be a factor going into Colorado.
Bottom Line: The Sox will get good pitching from
Beckett, but he’s never faced such an aggressive line up as
Colorado has. The Sox got lucky in game 7 with their bats because
Cleveland started a bad pitcher. The key for Colorado will be to
get off to a good start to silence the Fenway fans. The Rockies
have one of the best defenses in baseball, and with the Sox batting
whoas, I like the Rockies. In recent meetings, in June, these two
teams met in Boston for a three game series.
Colorado won the series 2-1 outscoring the Sox 20-5.
LET’S GO ROCKIES!

Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers

this NHL Game at Sportsbook.com
The Flyers bring the top Offense (averaging 4 goals per game) to South
Florida tonight. The off season additon of former Sabre Daniel Brierre
has paid big dividends thus far in the 07-08 campaign. No surprise
that he is the Flyers leading scorer and points leader. The Flyers
as a team have the 2nd lowest GAA(goals against average) in the league
behind only Minnesota, giving up just under 2 goals per game. In addition,
Philly also leads the league in shooting percentage to boot!
Bottom Line: The Panthers are still a very average
team at best. They do a good job on the penalty kill, but offensively,
they only average right around 2 goals per game. That spells alot
of trouble tonight with the 6-1, soon to be 7-1 Philadelphia club
tonight. Flyers roll on!
Final: Flyers 6 Panther 3
