The Vancouver Canucks are hoping they won’t be blown away
when the head into the RBC Center to take on the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Vancouver Canucks won an unimpressive game against the Columbus
Blue Jackets yesterday. They were outshot 20-0 in the first and
14-0 in the second period. Goalie R.Luongo sat out this game and
was replaced with C.Sanford, who earned his pay yesterday stopping
35 shots. R.Kesler was the big hero for the Canucks who scored two
goals and M.Naslund and K.Bieksa each chipped in with a goal. The
biggest problem for the Nucks was their penalties; they spent the
whole second period on the penalty kill which doesn’t give
the Canucks any hope in hell of scoring. In fact they’ve spent
so much time on the PK that their rating has jumped up substantially.
Expect R.Luongo to be back in net tonight. He’s won three
games out of seven and he’s got a 3.15 GAA. The only thing
going for the Canucks tonight is that their 3-0 on the road and
they’ve got a decent PK.
The Carolina Hurricanes are a team that excels in every part of
hockey you can think of. Despite losing their last two games, in
OT, they still have a top notch team. Their offense is ranked in
the Top 10 in goals, shots on net, power play and face offs won.
The Canes have one of the hottest goalies in the NHL with Cam Ward,
who has 4 wins and a 1.97 GAA. J.Williams leads the Canes with 11
points and Eric Staal leads with 5 goals in 8 games. The Hurricanes
started this season with two games at home, and then they went on
a six game road trip. They’ll be glad to play at home tonight.
Bottom Line: The Canucks have problems winning
face offs and scoring goals, while the Hurricanes are scoring and
stopping the puck from entering the net. Besides the Canucks perfect
3-0 record on the road, the Hurricanes will blow over the Canucks.
Go Hurricanes!

Bruins bring a 4 game winning streak into the Bell Centre tonight.
Most of the credit to the Bruins win streak has to be given to their
defense, and penalty kill units. Beantowners have only allowed 4 Power
Play goals on 28 opponent chances. In the last 3 games, they have
allowed NO PP goals! In additon, they have recieved solid goaltending
with Tim Thomas who has been very stingy of late. Thomas has allowed
only 2 goals on 63 total shots with a GAA (goals against average)
of 1.26 in 4 starts this season. On the flip side, the Canadiens are
atough team to figure out. They look good one night, and terrible
the next night.
Bottom Line: FYI-Bruins have dropped 3 straight,
and 7 of last 8 games vs Canadiens. However, this Bruins team is
playing so sound of late, that it has become harder to go against
them. So, I won't, and reccomend that you follow accordingly.
Final Boston 4 Montreal 3
