The red hot Ottawa Senators will host, their arch nemesis, the Toronto
Maple Leafs tonight, at the Scotia Bank Place.
The Ottawa Senators have a chance to make history tonight. If they
can get the win tonight, they will be the only team in history to
have 26 points in 14 games. The last loss the Sens had was back
on October 11, 2007 when they lost to the Carolina Hurricanes. The
Sens are averaging 3.5 goals a game and they lead the NHL in shots
on net. They pepper an average of 35 shots a game. The top producer
for the Sens is Daniel Alfredson, who has 19 points, and he leads
his team with 48 shots on net. They also have a great defense and
goaltender situation. G Martin Gerber is 9-1, with a 1.88 GAA along
with 1 shutout. Last year’s playoff hero Ray Emery has only
started 2 games, due to injuries, and he’s won them both.
A big loss for tonight’s game is the injury to Jason Speeza;
he’ll be sidelined with a groin injury.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a hockey club struggling to get wins.
They have 4 wins in their 10 games. They currently have the second
best goals for record, averaging 3.5 goals a game. On the other
hand they allow 4 goals a game. They literally have no defense which
is why their goaltender is struggling. G Vesa Toskala is 5-5, with
a 3.5 GAA. Another major downer is they have troubles on the penalty
kill; they usually get scored on during the PK. When their on a
power play they can’t score. The top producer for the Leafs
is Mat Sundin with 21 points and Jason Blake leads with 61 shots
on net. Mark Bell might make his return to the Leafs tonight, after
he served his 15 game suspensions.
Bottom Line: The Sens have just too much offense from pretty
much all of their players, although Speeza’s out, someone
else can easily step up. They also have a capable goalie, unlike
the Leafs. The Sens are almost perfect at home.
The Sens lead the series 7-3. Go Sens!

Central Michigan brings their high scoring offensive attack led by
QB Dan Lefevour into Kalamazoo tonight to face the Broncos of Western
Michigan. The chippewas of Central Michigan(5-4 overall, 2-3 on the
road), lead the MAC West Division with a 4-0 record, out scoring all
4 conference opponents by a combined total of 75 pts! They come in
5-4 overall, seeking that 6th win, and bowl eligibility status. The
home team(2-3 in conference, 3-6 overall & 1-3 at home), just
cannot match the talent that C Michigan brings offensively.
Bottom Line: They were beaten up 31-7 last November
at C Michigan, so i don't see much hope for the broncos tonight.
Western Michigan could only muster 2 pts two weeks ago against a
very bad Eastern Michigan club, and lost 19-2. This step up in class
offensively tonight only makes it tougher for the home team to compete.
Chippewas get it done in style on th e MAC road tonight!
Final: C Michigan 36 W Michigan 23
