The Vancouver Canucks will host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, at G.M. Place, for some hard hitting NHL action. The Vancouver Canucks are firing on all cylinders lately. They are 8-3 with recent spankings over the Chicago Blackhawks, 2-0, and the Anaheim Ducks 4-0. Goalie Roberto Luongo has back to back shutouts and has a 1.7GAA in his last ten games. In the Canucks last ten games their offense is averaging over 3 goals a game. The Canucks are getting GREAT offense and each and every player is helping out with goals or assists. One of the secrets to their success has been their discipline at avoiding penalties. In recent games they were spending too much time in the box and it was just too hard on their defense. Now their more disciplined and now they’re the ones causing penalties. The Canucks power play has jumped into the Top 10 in the league. Defensively they average a low 2.4GAA (#8), thanks to Luongo who’s showing his superstar status. The top producer for the Canucks is Henrik Sedin who has 24pts and Alex Edler is the hot defensemen with a +7 rating. Marcus Naslund is showing his star skills and has seven goals in his last seven games. The Canucks are 6-6-1 at home and they currently sit tied for 1st place in the Northwest Standings.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have been struggling lately. They have three wins in their last ten games. Their most recent, 1-3, loss was to the Edmonton Oilers, although the game before that they beat the #1 Detroit Red Wings 3-2 (SO). The Blue Jackets offense is averaging 2.6 a game and they tend to get a lot of shots on net. Their power play has just been average lately. Defensively their defense is pretty solid thanks to goalie Pascal Leclaire who’s 10-5-1 with a 1.88GAA and a .931SVPCT. He will be out for tonight’s game and backup Fredrik Norrena whose 1-4-3 will take his place. His biggest stat is his 6 shutouts. WOW! They are ranked 4th on the penalty kill. The top producer for the Blue Jackets is Rick Nash with 28pts and 108 shots on net. The Blue Jackets are 4-6-2 on the road and they sit tied for 4th place in the Central Standings.
Bottom Line: Everything about the Canucks is ROLLIN large lately. Their offense, defense and goaltending are on fire. The Blue Jackets won’t have their all-star goalie in net and their on a serious downward spiral.
The Canucks will notch another win under their belts!

Bet on the College basketball game at Bodog Life
The Mountaineers (3-3) come in off home loss to Davidson monday night. They have a nice array of talent, have great team size & speed. They are led by 6'1 sophmore guard Kellen Brand who comes in averaging 14 PPG. Inside, 6'8 senior forward Donte Minter provides the beef and averages 11 PPG and 5 rebounds. On the perimeter, guards Ryann Abraham and Eduardo Bermudez average 10 PPG respectively. Abraham comes in averaging 50% from three-point land. Mouintaineers love to push the ball and play up tempo. This will cause some problems for the visiting Shockers of Wichita St.(3-2) who prefer a more deliberate style of offfense. Shockers are led by senoir forwards P.J. Couisnard, and Phillip Thomasson. On the perimiter, senior guard Matt Braeur comes in averaging 12 PPG, while sophmore Gal Mekel contributes 11 PPG.
Bottom Line:The Shockers struggle as a team from the perimiter, and don't have the athletes to stay with the home team tonight. Not much of a history with these 2 teams. Appalachian St. is 1-0 SU & ATS vs Wichita St. over the last 3 seasons.
Mouintaineeers bring home the bacon toinght!
Final: Appalachian State 83 Wichita State 72
