The Vancouver Canucks will host the Anaheim Ducks tonight, at G.M. Place, for some hard hitting NHL action. The Anaheim Ducks and Todd Bertuzzi will make their first appearance, this year, in Vancouver.  Bertuzzi has been out since Oct 14 after suffering a concussion from Minnesota Wild enforcer Derek Boogard. He’s been symptom free and now he’s ready to play. The Ducks suffered back to back losses before beating the L.A. Kings, 3-2, at home. The Ducks have six wins in their last ten games, with five games decided in OT or a shootout. Their offense has picked up the pace averaging over three goals a game, but surprisingly the majority of them aren’t on the power play. Defensively the Ducks have been better. They allow 2.76 goals against and they have an above average defense, with Chris Pronger. Todd Bertuzzi will add some strength in front of the net, which is what he’s known best for. Goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere is 8-5-2 with a 2.36 GAA along with a .910 SVPCT. The top producer for the Ducks is Ryan Getzlaf with 25pts and Corey Perry leads with 79 shots on net. The Ducks are 3-6-1 on the road and the sit in 2nd place in the Pacific Standings.

The Vancouver Canucks shut out the Chicago Blackhawks, 2-0, at home. Brendan Morrison and Daniel Sedin each banged in a goal. The Canucks have won seven of their last ten games; they’re averaging three goals a game. The majority of the Canucks goals have been on the power play, which is why their ranked 10th in the league. Once again the Nucks are struggling on faceoffs. Trevor Linden used to be the man for faceoffs, but has since been struggling.  Defensively the Canucks HAVE to stay out of the penalty box, if they want to win. They allow way too many goals on their penalty kill. Goalie Roberto Luongo recorded his first SO last game against the Hawks. He’s 10-9-2 with a 2.40 GAA and a .915 SVPCT. The top producer for the Canucks is Daniel Sedin with 22pts and Marcus Naslund leads with 67 shots on net. The Canucks are 5-6-1 at home and they sit on top of the Northwest Standings.

Bottom Line:  The Canucks have drastically improved in their last ten games and their knocking pucks in the net. They’ve improved at home going, 4-5, while the Ducks are 3-4 on the road in ten games. It’s a big game for the Canucks going up against ex-Canuck Todd Bertuzzi. The Canucks want to start separating themselves from the other teams close behind in the NW Standings.

It is rare to find a basketball game when you have 4 of the best players in the NBA playing in one game. The Boston Celtics may get a true test on Tuesday night as they travel to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers. With Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen all on the same team there will not be many nights they will lose; even against the King James.

Bottom Line: The Celtics are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Tuesday games. The Celtics are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Celtics are 37-15 ATS in their last 52 road games.

Cylcone coach Greg Mcdermott faces his former club tonight in Ames. Ia. Cyclones(2-2) are coming in with a week of rest having lost to Minnesota last tuesday at Hilton Coliseum. They are led by 6'6 senior forward Rashon Clark averaging 11 points and 5 rebounds per game, and 6'10 freshman forward Craig Brackens averaging 15 points and 5 rebounds per game. They have a talented young backcourt led by freshman guards Diante Garrett and Bryan Peterson each averaging 12 points and 3 assists per game. In the middle they are led by 6'11 senior center Jiri Hubalek averaging 8 points and 9 rebounds per game.

Bottom Line:They match up well with the visiting panthers of Northern Iowa(4-1) who come in off an upset loss to South Dakota St.on friday night. Panthers are led by 6'6 senior center Eric Coleman who averages 13 points and 8 rebounds per game. They have a talented backcourt led by senior Jared Josten averaging 14 points p er game. Shoring up the middle is 7'1 sophmore center Jordan Eglseder who averages 13 points and 9 rebounds per game. Panthers have an impressive win at home over Umass on their resume, but i think the wrong team is favored here tonight. Hilton Coliseum is one of the toughest arenas in the Big 12. Lastly, Iowa St. is 53-34 ATS in home games when playing a team with a winning record since 1997.
