The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the winless Miami Dolphins tonight, at Heinz Field, for some NFL action. The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a, 16-19, nail biter of a loss to the N.Y. Jets last week. The Steelers offense had an off day. QB Ben Roethlisberger was 15/25 for 195 YDS with 1TD and 1 INT. He also had 2 fumbles on the day. They’ve been struggling with their pass game, averaging just 200 PASS YDS. They’ll take a bit of a hit tonight with the injured WR Santonio Holmes out. Even though they didn’t have much of a running game last week, against the Jets, the Steelers are ranked 2nd with 147 RUSH YDS and they average 26pts a game. RB Willie Parker was held to just 52 YDS against the Jets No.29 ranked rush defense. The Steelers are well known for their tough defense, and it shows. They’re ranked 1st with 236 TOT YDS, 156 PASS YDS and 14 pts per game.  Safety Troy Polamalu will not be playing tonight. This is a must win for the Steelers with the Cleveland Browns close behind. The Steelers are a perfect 5-0 at home and they sit in 1st place in the AFC North Standings.

The winless Miami Dolphins don’t want to be the second team in NFL history to go 0-14 since the 1976 Buccaneers. The Dolphins are coming off a 7-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. PR Ted Ginn Jr had an 89 YD punt return for a TD and that was all the Dolphins could muster up. QB John Beck was 9/22 for 109 YDS. I’m trying to find something good to write about the Dolphins offense, but I can’t! They average 304 TOT YDS, 189 PASS YDS, 114 RUSH YDS and they put up an average 18pts a game. Defensively they’re capable at slowing down their opponents passing game; they’re ranked 3rd with 181 PASS YDS allowed. They’re horrible at stopping the rush and they give up an average 27pts a game. The Dolphins currently sit in last place in the AFC East Standings.

Bottom Line:  The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to run the ball down the Dolphins throat tonight. They’ll have to watch out for the Dolphins pass protection. The Dolphins don’t have anything good on offense, and going up against the brick wall of the Steelers it’s going to get real ugly fast.

Akron Zips (3-1) come in off home opening win over Binghampton saturday night at Firestone Arena. Zips have been a tough home team over the past few years. They are led by senior forward Jeremiah Wood who comes in averaging 15 points and 9 rebounds per game. Senior guard Nick Dials the floor leader and comes in averaging 11 points and 4 assists per game. Akron goes 8 deep and loves to push the ball up & down the court. They also excel at shooting the 3ptr as well. Dials shoots 40 % from downtown, guard Cedrick Middleton shoots 33 % & guard Steve McNees shoots 38 %. Zips have good size and crash the boards well. Temple owls(2-3) come in off win at Bowling Green saturday night. Owls are led by Junior guard Dionte Christmas averaging 19 points & senior forward Mark Tyndale averaging 16 per game.

Bottom L:ine: They have played a nice early schedule with losses to Tennessee-Providence-College of Charleston, and a win at Marist. Led by former Penn Head Coach Fran Dunphy, the owls like to play more of a half court game. They struggle with teams like Akron that can run & gun This is Akrons first real test of the season, and they will pass with flying colors. Lastly, Akron is 17-6 ATS in all home games over the past 3 seasons, including a 17-7 ATS record when playing a team with a losing record.

History wise, Zips are 1-0 ATS vs Temple over last 3 years. Akron gets the job done tonight at home!

The Phoenix Suns will look to win their 9th in a row tonight as they take on the Golden State Warriors in Oakland but the Warriors are a well coached team and well disiplined team. Baron Davis is great in the back court adn will be able to slow down the run and gun of hte Suns. Golden State is playing good basketball as well.  They have won five of their last six after a horrible start to the year. The Warriors are averaging 107 points per game which is 2nd best in the NBA. Stephen Jackson is averaging 20.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in his five games this season.
