The St.Louis Blues host the Vancouver Canucks tonight, at the Scottrade Center, for some hard hitting NHL action.
The Vancouver Canucks are coming off an impressive, 4-2, road win to the Minnesota Wild. The Canucks captain Marcus Naslund had a hat trick on the day and Ryan Kesler chipped in a goal. The Canucks have been scoring goals like there’s no tomorrow. In their last four games they’ve accumulated 18 goals to their opponents 10 goals. They’ve been good for 4 goals a game with the majority of them coming on the power play. Regardless of the low shots on net average, 24, they’re scoring. Goalie Roberto Luongo is 9-8-2 with a 2.49 GAA, a .912 SVPCT along with 1 SHO. The Canucks have had little discipline and have been spending too much time in the penalty box. This has been their downfall. The manage to get off to a great start with a couple goals under their belts, but then take stupid penalties and their opponents catch up. This has to stop! The top producer for the Canucks is Henrik Sedin with 22pts and Marcus Naslund leads his team with 60 shots on net. Alex Alder is their hottest defensemen with a +/- 6 rating. The Canucks are currently 7-2-1 on the road and they sit in 3rd place in the Northwest Standings. The Canucks are (12-9 ATS).
The St.Louis Blues are coming off a scoreless, 0-3, road loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Before this loss the Blues were on were riding a four game winning streak. The Blues offense has been winning but their stats don’t say too much. They’re good for an average 2.5 goals a game and their power play stinks. During their four game win streak they were averaging 3 goals a game. The Blues have utilized both their goalies this year. Manny Legace is 9-6 with a 2.42 GAA for a .912 SVPCT and 1 SHO. Hannu Toivonen is 2-2 with a 2.19 GAA for a .918 SVPCT. The top producer for the Blues is Paul Kariya with 20pts and he also leads his team with 53 shots on net. The Blues are currently 7-3 at home and they sit in 4th place in the Central Standings. The Blues are (8-11 ATS).
Bottom Line: With the Canucks recent goal scoring surge and much needed confidence boost they’re feeling good. They’ll need to use discipline to stay out of the penalty box tonight and they’ll need to keep pressure on the Blues defense.
The Canucks do better on the road without their home town fans on their backs. Let’s go Canucks!

Bradley -3
Bet on the College basketball at Bodog Life
Bradley Braves are led by senior guards Daniel Ruffin who averages 16 PPG, Andrew Warren at 13 PPG & Jeremy Crouch at 12 PPG. They are led on the low post by 6'7 senior Matt Salley & 6'5 junior Theron Wilson. They are well coached by Jim Les who just a few years ago led Bradley to a nice tourney run. They hope to get back to the big dance this year and are one of the favorites to win the Missouri Valley Conference in 07-08. Les stresses strong defense and rebounding. They move the ball well and maike good decisons which is a product of their head coach. Iowa Hawkeyes come in led by new head coach Bruce Licklighter, previously the head man at Butler where he led the bulldogs to a handful of tourney appearances in the last 6 years. Gone is Steve Alford who left for New Mexico.
Bottom Line: Hawkeyes are led by 6'6 senior guard Justin Johnson averaging close to 16 PPG. They lack depth, going only 7 deep on ther bench. On the flip side, you have a Bradley squad that can go 10 deep into their bench. Look for that Bradley depth to slowly takes it's toll on an undermanned Iowa club tonight.
Great value with the Braves tonight!
Final: Bradley 76 Iowa 66
