The San Antonio Spurs will host the Houston Rockets tonight, at the AT&T Center, for some NBA action. The San Antonio Spurs lost to the Dallas Mavericks, 105-92, last night in Dallas. Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili combined for 49 pts, while Tony Parker struggled to contribute just 7 pts. Previously before this loss the Spurs were on a four game winning streak. The Spurs aren’t sinking enough baskets and their good for 98 pts a game. They’re ranked in the Top 10 in field goals and 3-point shooting. Defense is where the Spurs shine. They allow a low 90 pts a game and they’ve managed to shut down their opponents’ 3-point shooting. They also commit the least amount of fouls in the paint. The top producer for the Spurs, at the moment, is Manu Ginobili with 20 pts a game. Tony Parker is the dish out guy with an average 6 assists a game. Tim Duncan is a defensive animal and he leads his team in rebounds and blocks. The Spurs are currently 5-0 at home and they sit in 1st place in the Southwest Standings.

The Houston Rockets are coming off a two game losing streak. They lost a road game to the Memphis Grizzlies, 99-105, and then to the L.A. Lakers, 90-93. In the loss to the Lakers the top producers were Yao Ming and Bonzi Wells, who combined for 47 pts. Tracy McGrady had an off day only contributing 9 pts. Steve Francis did not play. The Rockets majority of points came in the paint. The Rockets have been struggling on offense lately. They’re averaging 95 pts a game and lack at field goals and 3-pointers. The go to guy for the Rockets is Tracy McGrady with 26 pts a game and he leads his team with 5 assists a game. Yao Ming leads with an average 10 rebounds. The Rockets are currently 3-2 on the road and they sit in 4th place in the Southwest Standings.

Bottom Line:  The Spurs have allowed or scored over 100 pts in their last 3 games. Tonight’s game will have lots of 3-point shooting and the Rockets will get the majority of their points in the paint. The Spurs are stronger off the bench than the Rockets, which will contribute more points. Look for the score to be OVER 178!

Bottom Line:Combined with this being his first time in the octagon with a much larger crowd he will show his nerves. Gono is a great fighter and look for him to press the attack and KO McCrory early.
