The Vancouver Canucks will host the Edmonton Oilers tonight, at G.M. Place, for some hard hitting NHL action. The Vancouver Canucks will be looking for their fourth win in a row tonight, after beating Colorado, 2-1 (OT) last week. Henrik Sedin was the hero for the Canucks with a 2nd period goal, and then he banged in the winner just 1:22 into OT. The Canucks are averaging only 2.6 goals a game, while goaltender Roberto Luongo is good for 2.73 GAA. He’s currently 7-8 with a .907 save percentage and he has yet to record a shutout. The Nucks aren’t doing too badly despite the injuries to their best defensemen. Daniel Sedin is the go to guy for the Canucks as he leads with 16 pts. Markus Naslund has the most shots on net, 43. Despite Nazzy being the top shooter the rest of the team needs to start shooting more, and hitting the net! Other notables for the Nuckleheads are Henrik Sedin, Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison. The Canucks are a perfect 6-0 against the Northwest Conference and they sit in 4th position. They’re currently 2-6 at home.
The Edmonton Oilers got a big, 4-2, win over the Calgary Flames to snap a four game losing streak. The Oil had goals from Sam Gagner, Shawn Horcoff (2) and Robert Nilsson. They’re really struggling scoring goals lately as they only average 2.2 goals a game and they can’t seem to score on the power play. Defensively they are good at the penalty kill but that doesn’t cut it when you have a poor goalie. Goaltender Dwayne Roloson is 3-9 with a 3.14 GAA and backup keeper Mathieu Garon is 3-2 with a 2.92 GAA. The top producer for the Oilers is Shawn Horcoff with 16 pts and Raffi Torres leads with 58 shots on net. The Oilers are currently in last place in the Northwest Standings and they are 3-6-1 on the road.
Bottom Line: The Canucks will be all over the Oilers like white on rice. Despite the Canucks poor home record, they’ve had five days of rest and they’re hungry to play. The Oilers have a sieve for a goaltender and the Canucks will be looking to abuse him on their power play.
Strike up another home win for the Canucks!

Ed Herman vs. Joe Doerksen
Saturday November 17 11:00 PM EST
Doerksen
Bet on the UFC at Bodog Life
This is a tough match to call. Joe Doerksen is a very experience grappler and has fought some of the toughest people in MMA with wins over Patrick Côté, Chris Leben, Denis Kang, John Alessio, and Lee Murray. He has already beaten Ed Herman once before at SF 7: Fright Night with a triangle choke but that was in 2004.
Bottom Line: TThe problem with Doerksen is that he loses to top level fighters like Paulo Filho, Nathan Marquardt, Matt Lindland, Joe Riggs, David Loiseau, Egan Inoue, and Matt Hughes. But is Ed Herman a top level fighter yet? I’d have to say no. Their fight was 3 years ago but he has not raised his game in my opinion to beat a crafty veteran like Doerksen. Doerksen has an incredible ground game and he will be able to position themselves against a wrestler turned submission fighter.
Take Doerksen with another submission in the second round
