The Toronto Maple Leafs will host the Montreal Canadiens tonight, at the Air Canada Center, for some hard hitting NHL action.
The Toronto Maple Leafs recently lost a nail bitter to the N.Y. Rangers, 2-3 (SO), after shutting out the Buffalo Sabers’ 3-0. The Leafs are currently ranked in the Top 10 in goals for, 3.2, and shots on net, 30.6. They aren’t managing to score on the power play, which is highly unusual. Defensively the Leafs aren’t there. They have one of the worst goals against and shots on net averages. Their goalie Vesa Toskala is good for 3.5 GAA and he’s currently 5-8. Back up Andrew Raycroft seems to be a bit better with a 2.96 GAA and a 2-3 record. The top producer for the Leafs is Mats Sundin with 24 pts and Jason Blake leads with 75 shots on net. Other notable producers for the Leafs are Nik Anropov, Jason Blake and Tomas Kaberle. The Leafs are currently 4th in the Northeast Standings and they’ve got a home record of 3-4-3.
The Montreal Canadiens lost their last road game, 2-3, to the Ottawa Senators. The Habs offense is rolling right along just fine. They’re currently ranked in the Top 10 in goals for, 3.0, shots on net and they have a power play that’s ranked 1st. Defensively they allow only 2.4 goals against thanks mostly to goaltender Christobal Huet. He’s currently 6-3-2 with a 2.07 GAA, .931 save percentage and he’s recorded 1 shutout. The Habs need to better their penalty kill and try to block more shots from getting on net. The top producers for the Habs are Saku Koivu with 15 pts and Christopher Higgins leads with 63 shots on net. Other top producers for the Habs are Andrei Markov and Alexi Kovalev. The Habs are currently 2nd in the Northeast Standings and they’ve got a 5-2-1 road record.
Bottom Line: The Habs are doing very well compared to the Leafs. They’re scoring goals and stopping them at the same time. They have a hot goalie, to go along with a winning road record.
The Habs will be all over the Leafs weak defense. Let’s go Habs!

The high scoring Los Angeles Lakers led by Kobe Bryant travel to San Antonio to take on Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers are averaging 108.4 points per game while the Spurs are giving up just 88.3 points per game. With such a talented group of players like Parker, Duncan and Manu Ginobili they will be able to contain Kobe so he will have to dish the ball off. Well not everyone e the team is Kobe. Right not the Spurs are playing a great team game. They are coming off a near perfect game on Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks as they won 113-88. "We had a very good night," said San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich.
Bottom Line: The Under is 4-1 in the Spurs last 5 games as a favorite. The Over is 7-3 in the Spurs last 10 home games. The Under is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in San Antonio between the two teams
LA might be high flying but when they play a team like the Spurs look for aslower pace
