The Tampa Bay Lightning will host the Ottawa Senators tonight, at the St.Pete Times Arena, for some NHL action. The Ottawa Senators are in deep trouble after winning three of their last ten games. At the start of the season they attempted to break the best 14 game win streak. They came one game shy and now their losing like crazy. They’ve lost six in a row; their most recent, 2-5, loss was to the N.Y. Rangers at home. The once most powerful offense is struggling. They are scoring goals however, they have 2.9 goals per game average, and it’s their goaltenders that are hurting. Goalie Ray Emery is not the same Emery as last year. He’s sat on the bench after Martin Gerber went on a 10-1 win streak. Now Emery has been given a chance at net and he’s 2-3-1 with a 2.73GAA. Gerber is the better goalie; he’s just been struggling lately. He’s 13-4-1 with a 2.50GAA and 1SHO. The Sens are 6-2-1 on the road and they sit in 1st place in the Northeast Standings. The Sens are (10-15 ATS, 11-13 O/U).
The Tampa Bay Lightning are enjoying a home win over the Boston Bruins, 4-1, after enduring a six game losing streak. The Lightning’s top scorer, Vincent LeCavalier, had two goals on the night. Their offense is ranked 5th in the NHL for scoring an average 3.1GPG and their power play and faceoff wins are in the Top 10. It’s their defense that’s letting them down. They have an average penalty kill and their goalie situation is bleak. G Johan Holmqvist is 11-9-2 with a 2.78GAA and an .894SVPCT. His back up Marc Dennis has not won a game yet, 0-4. The top producer for the Lightning is Vincent LeCavalier with 41pts and he leads with 105 shots on net. The Lightning is 9-3-1 at home and they sit in 4th place in the Southeast Standings. The Lightning is (13-13 ATS, 16-9 O/U).
Bottom Line: The Lightning play much better at home. The Sens are struggling, they’re frustrated, their goalies aren’t performing up to their standards and they hurt on the road.
You have to go with the hottest player in the league Vincent LeCavalier. Let’s go Lightning!
