NFL Betting Preview
New England Patriots at Baltimore Ravens
Monday, 8:30 pm Eastern – ESPN
SBG Global Opening Line: Patriots -20.5 , Total 48.5
The New England Patriots will try and stay unbeaten as they travel to Baltimore on Monday to face the Ravens. The Patriots looked beatable last week against Philadelphia but they may not have much trouble against a Ravens team that has lost five straight. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Patriots on the Road.
Last week the Eagles gave the rest of the NFL some hope that the Patriots could be beaten. "We know that this is the National Football League and it's a copycat league and a lot of things that Philly did good this past week, a lot of teams will dissect that and try to come up with their own scheme," defensive end Ty Warren said. You would think that the Ravens would have a defense capable of doing what the Eagles did last week but that is not the case. Baltimore is giving up 22.1 points per game, 17th in the league and they have allowed 28.6 points per game during their five game losing streak. The Ravens still have linebacker Ray Lewis but their other top linebacker, Adalius Thomas was signed by New England as a free agent in the off-season. Thomas was third on the Ravens in tackles and second in sacks last year.
With the defense struggling, the Ravens can’t win games. The offense is not good enough to trade points with other teams. Quarterback Kyle Boller has been sacked 10 times the past two games and has not played well. The running game has also struggled recently and the Ravens are turning the ball over. They are second worst in the NFL with 28 giveaways.
SBG Global Current Line: Patriots -18.5 (-105) , Total 47
The Ravens may have a difficult time because the Patriots look to bounce back from what was an off game for them last week. New England was held to a season-low 48 yards rushing last week and quarterback Tom Brady threw just one TD pass. Brady is still on pace to break Peyton Manning's single-season record of 49 TD passes in a season.
