The Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres begin an important series in the National League West on Tuesday as both teams are trying to catch the Arizona Diamondbacks. Maddux allowed just two runs in his last start but the Padres could not score but one run and he took the 2-1 loss to St. Louis. Maddux is winless in his last eight starts. He has pitched well lately with an ERA of 3.07 ERA in his last five starts but the Padres can’t score and the bullpen has blown leads twice. Maddux is 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in three starts versus the Rockies this season, and 12-7 with a 4.20 ERA in 24 career starts against them.
